Capo
Falcone is located to Nord-West of Sardinia. This promontory
is now commonly considered a sort of paradise for its natural
beauty. The sea of Pelosa beach is one
of the best sea you can find in Italy and likely not only in Italy.
The cyan colour (that makes it looking like a swimming pool more
than a sea), the clearness and purity of the water can hardly
been found in other places, even in Sardinia. The wide covering
of mediterraneum is also interesting from the faunistic point
of view.
In front of the promontory there is the island of Asinara,
formerly a penal colony and only from 1998 nature reserve. The
most famous village in this area is Stintino,
that used to be a fishing based village in the past while now
tourism is the main resource. On the North coast is located Porto
Torres (far from Stintino about 34 km.). Porto Torres is a quite
important town in that area because of its port connecting Sardinia
to Genoa and Livorno and also for some archeologic
finds and for a very interesting church of XI century. Down
on the west coast, before Alghero, an important town from the
historical and tourist point of view, we meet Argentiera where
you can see the old silver mine.
