| The

the Regatta
of the Latin Sail,
that takes place at the end of August (in 2004 the 22th edition
from the 27th to the 29th of August) with more than 100 participants
with traditional boats. This regatta is part of the “Latin
Sail Circuit ”, an international event dedicated to the latin
sail that in 2004 arrived at the 4th edition and that is made of
8 regattas from April to September. The Latin sail, characterized
by a sailyard, is the Mediterranean canvas par excellence since
the times of the maritime republics, also used by Cristoforo Colombo
and Vasco de Gama; the Latin sail lived through centuries until
the middle of 1900, when in the years after the Second World War
inevitably gave way to the sea engines.

The Regatta of the Latin Sail
was born in 1983 with the aim of honour and save these traditional
boats; nowadays it has became the most important and significant
rally of this kind of boats in Italy and, more tha a competition,
is an occasion of meeting and celebrations for the owners of these
boats, some of wich of the first years of 1900, coming from everywhere,
mainly from Italy but also from Spain and France (in 2000 a boat
of Tunisia too participates); it is obviously a moment of great
interest for Stintino
community and for the
many summer tourists of Stintino area. This event takes place in
the space of four days; the regatta starts from the port "Mannu"
at Stintino and for the all four days there are exhibitions,
