Capo Falcone
is a promontory on the North-West of Sardinia.
 |
| A foreshortening
of Capo Falcone |
A large expanse of Mediterranean scrub
characterizes this region; well integrated in the natural environment
you can find several cottages and hotels mainly alongside the coast,
but with a strong concentration in the area between Stintino
Village and La Pelosa beach. Capo Falcone takes its name from
an old tower on the hill, called Falcone Tower,
that used to be a defensive bulwark during Spanish domination. The
rock is granitic; for its particular aspect is famous as "Stintino
Stone" and a lot of cottages are finished with it. Tourism
boom of last years is mainly due to the beach of La
Pelosa on the north coast in front of Asinara
island. For this reason Stintino and its outskirts became during
last twenty years one of the most celebrated and frequented areas
of Sardinia.

| Riding
on the streets of Capo Falcone |
Hotels, residences and above all private cottages come to life during
summer months, for a more and more increasing tourist flow (in cartain
periods overflowing the capacity of the place). As in every other
refined tourist settlement, Capo Falcone too has an organization
for entertainment, amusement and sport both of beach or water and
land as tennis or riding.
But an interesting characteristic of
 |
| The
reef of Capo Falcone |
this place, not yet largely
known, is the cohexisting of two completely different types of coast
at a distance of few meters. In fact on the North-East side, in
front of Asinara you can find the white sand beach of La Pelosa
with a shallow cyan water with wonderful transparencies, while on
the North-west side, after some as 200 mt., the coast becomes steep
with overhanging rocks of about 150 meters on a dark blue and deep
sea. For people who love reef and quietness it is the ideal place
as the shore can be reached also by land even if with some difficulties,
but for this reason never crowded. |
